The upheaval of the economy and of business is accelerating, but German companies are having an increasingly difficult time dealing with disruption. This is what the second iteration of the “Change Readiness Index” shows – it has fallen from 58 to 55 points as compared to 2017. To compile this scale whose top score is 100 points, Staufen surveyed more than 400 top executives of German companies as part of its “Success in Change” study.

47 percent of managers in Germany are convinced that their own company is in great danger of disruption. As the “Change Readiness Index 2019” defined by the management consultancy Staufen shows, the fear of being ousted from the market by innovative developments has increased significantly. More than 400 top executives of German companies were surveyed for the index, as part of the “Success in Change” study. The complete survey will be presented at the beginning of July at “BestPractice Day 2019” – Europe’s leading lean management congress.

Almost every fourth German industrial company now classifies the probability of its business model being affected by a disruptive attacker within the next two years as “high” or even “very high.” For comparison: Just a year ago, only 16 percent of companies could imagine such a short-term attack. This has been illustrated by the “German Industry 4.0 Index” from business consultancy Staufen. For the study, the experts from Staufen Digital Neonex surveyed around 450 industrial companies in Germany.
